Who we are
With eith regional programmes delivered by over 100 prestigious universities, the Global Campus is the world's largest network for postgraduate education in human rights and democratisation.
The vision of the Global Campus of Human Rights is to foster new generations of human rights experts able to contribute to a world in which human dignity, equality, freedom, human security, sustainable development, democracy, the rule of law and respect for all human rights are realised.
Our education tackles the challenges confronting democracy and human rights, equipping specialists to address these critical issues in all work environments.
Governance
As laid out in its Statute, the Global Campus is governed by the Assembly, the Council, the President, the Vice-President(s), the Honorary President(s), the Secretary General, and a Statutory Auditor. These statutory bodies are assisted by specialised working groups such as the Academic Affairs Committee, the Working Group on Budgetary Issues and the Working Group on Research.

Universities
Our over one hundred member universities stand at the forefront of advancing human rights and democracy through cutting-edge education, research, and advocacy. They thrive through collaborative exchange of experiences as well as educational and scientific resources, drawing support and inspiration from one another.

Our global headquarter is located on the island of Lido, Venice.
While our regional HQs are located in seven cities across different regions, the global HQ is based on the island of Lido, Venice, in the 14th century Monastery of San Nicolò. In our beautiful premises, we host the first semester of the GC Europe Master’s programme (EMA), as well as events, conferences, research initiatives, and both in-person and online training courses.
Regional Networks
We operate through a network of eight regional partners located across the world: Africa (Pretoria, South Africa), Asia-Pacific (Bangkok, Thailand), the Arab World (Beirut, Lebanon), the Caucasus (Yerevan, Armenia), Central Asia (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), Europe (Venice, Italy), Latin America and the Caribbean (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and South-East Europe (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina). These regional hubs work together to deliver specialized human rights post-gratudate education, research, and advocacy tailored to the unique challenges and contexts of their respective regions.
Alumni
The Global Campus Alumni Network gathers over 4,000 experts, activists and professionals spread throughout the world, actively contributing to a world in which human dignity, equality, freedom, human security, sustainable development, democracy, the rule of law and respect for all human rights are realised.
In addition to our rich network of universities, the primary partners of the Global Campus of Human Rights are the European Union, Right Livelihood and the city of Venice. We further cooperate with various inter-governmental organisations, governmental authorities and civil society active in the field of human rights and democratisation.

Since the very establishment of the European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) in 1997, the European Union has been our closest partner and primary funder. Today, through the Global Europe: Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI), the EU is providing long-term financial support to the Global Campus as its flagship programme for human rights higher education. Besides the European Commission, the we cooperate closely with the European External Action Service, EU delegations around the world, and the European Parliament.
On 1 August 2019, Right Livelihood and the Global Campus of Human Rights entered into a long-term partnership on human rights education with a particular focus on the promotion of children’s rights. Established in 1980, Right Livelihood each year honours and supports courageous people and organisations who offer visionary and exemplary solutions to the root causes of global problems.

The city of Venice has generously offered the 14th-century Monastery of San Nicolò on Venice-Lido to serve as the headquarters of the Global Campus of Human Rights.
