Policy Observatory
The policy observatory programme seeks to amplify the impact of the Global Campus network through cross-regional research initiatives, providing guidance and expert opinions (policy briefs) in response to urgent human rights issues.
Joint Projects
The Global Campus conducts a wide range of joint research projects on globally significant topics, explored through diverse regional perspectives. From strategic litigation on child rights to the EU’s internal and external human rights policies, our members and partners engage in multi-year research initiatives covering a variety of critical issues.
Visiting Researchers
We invite applications from researchers specializing in human rights and democratisation to conduct research at our Venice-Lido headquarters. Global Campus Visiting Researchers typically stay for 1 to 6 months and are encouraged to actively participate in the intellectual and educational life of the Global Campus, engaging with both students and faculty. Visiting researchers are expected to secure their own funding to support their stay in Venice.
Library
The Monastery of San Nicolò features a dedicated, comprehensive library with a diverse range of books, journals and publications focusing on human rights and democratisation. The library’s subscription includes several online journals, the HeinOnline core collection, Brill’s Human Rights and Humanitarian Law e-book collections, and access to the most relevant open-access databases.
Networking Events
Over the past twenty years, we have organised a range of research and dissemination events—including conferences, workshops, seminars, and webinars—both at our Venice-Lido headquarters and at the campuses of our regional members. Some events, like the Global Classrooms, have placed students at the forefront, helping them develop and refine their research skills.
OPEN KNOWLEDGE REPOSITORY
The Open Knowledge Repository is a digital service that collects, preserves, and makes accessible all digital materials produced within the framework of the Global Campus of Human Rights. It contains an ever-growing collection of research outputs and educational materials, sustains open access for knowledge transfer, and fosters communication within and beyond academia.
